Joshua M. Rosen Foundation, Inc.

Honoring the loving memory of our son, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew, cousin, great friend, and IDF warrior, we established the Joshua M. Rosen Foundation.

Foundation honors memory of lone soldier

It was always Josh Rosen’s dream to join the Israel Defense Forces. He graduated Towson University one semester early then joined the IDF in Nachal 931, a unit that guards Israel’s borders. After completing his service in the IDF, he went to Interdisciplinary Center in Herzliya to receive his master’s degree.

From Ari K., one of the Foundation’s first 2019 scholarship recipients:

I am incredibly honored and overwhelmed by the Foundation’s support during my M.A. studies at the Interdisciplinary Center in Herzliya (IDC). You have afforded me the opportunity to continue to advance my academic studies and professional capabilities to be able to give back to the world.

In addition to my M.A. course load and working as a Teaching Assistant throughout my M.A., I have been busy with numerous extra-curricular opportunities, of which included an internship at the Abba Eban Institute for International Diplomacy (AEI) at their Diplomacy 2030 desk. I also joined the Advisory Board of a new think tank, the Center for Regional Research and Sustainability Studies (CRSS) at their Conflict and Peace desk where I published an article and joined their Editorial Board. I submitted an abstract, which was accepted, and I intend to present post COVID at the 2021 International Political Science Association’s (IPSA) 26th World Congress of Political Science. I also continued to serve as President and Director of the Israeli Model United Nations Association (IMUNA).  In addition to other organizational engagements, I volunteered with the elderly and worked as an English teacher at the Smart Center afterschool program.

Throughout my studies, I have met countless diplomats, ambassadors, business icons, entrepreneurs, as well as leading experts in the fields of Diplomacy, Politics, International Security, and Counter-Terrorism. All of these enriching experiences have expanded my knowledge base and prepared me to become a leader in my field of Counter-Terrorism, Homeland Security, Diplomacy and Business.

As I look forward to the completion of my studies and graduation, I am at a loss for words to express the full extent and depth of my gratitude for the Foundation’s kindness.

*Ari K. made Aliya from Cleveland, Ohio in 2012 and served in Givati until 2015. The Joshua M. Rosen Foundation is so proud to have had the opportunity to be a part of Ari’s academic journey!

In 2019, the Joshua M. Rosen Foundation funded its first scholarships to the M.A. program of the IDC Herzliya’s Lauder School of Government. We are proud to honor Josh’s memory in such a meaningful way and to provide educational assistance to deserving lone soldiers. This scholarship embodies Josh’s passion for Israel and the IDF along with his appreciation for the excellent education that he received at IDC. We are excited to join IDC in continuing to educate tomorrow’s leaders.

This scholarship supports lone soldiers enrolled in the Counter-Terrorism and Homeland Security Conflict and Diplomacy Master degree programs.
